SALT (Student Activities and Leadership Training)
Each year the high school elects students to serve as a part of SALT, MCS’s Student Government. The purpose of this organization is to provide students with opportunities to use and develop their leadership skills. Much of this involves planning activities (see below), but leadership skills are also developed through attendance at selected leadership conferences, most recently the Maxell Leadercast and the ACSI Middle School Leadership Conference. The following list include the SALT leadership responsibilities:
Executive Council – President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Student Chaplain
High School Representatives – two per class
Middle School Representatives – two or three per grade (operates as a separate entity)
A sampling of activities sponsored by SALT include school Pep Rallies, See You at the Pole, National Day of Prayer, Christmas Spirit Week and Christmas Parties, and the High School Formal. They also help coordinate student Bible studies, chapel, and various school projects. This group is advised by Pastor Jim Terwilliger and Beth George.
